VB National Golf Club: the rezoning is next
Council approved the terms for selling the course in August. Before the sale can close, the developer needs permission to build 659 homes. The Planning Commission will vote Dec. 9. City Council votes after that.
ITA Master Plan: watching
A draft plan would open about 368 acres in southern Virginia Beach to industry, at an estimated public cost of about $55 million for roads and stormwater. It’s waiting on a Planning Commission hearing.

What residents have changed
- Data centers. We warned that the newly proposed ITA plan could open the door to data centers. In June, City Council unanimously backed rejecting large data centers, and a Council member cited the many emails residents had sent. In August, Council paused new data center applications while the City writes rules. Learn more about the proposed ITA plan
- In Chesapeake, our Responsible Growth 757 effort asked the City to keep data centers out of the rural Fentress area and stop allowing them automatically. On Aug. 18, Chesapeake City Council voted unanimously to do both. See what happened in Chesapeake
- Back Bay Farmhouse. We asked City Council to delay its vote and make the developer pay for pedestrian safety. Council delayed 30 days, and the developer is now required to pay $600,000 toward a crosswalk signal on Kempsville Road. See the outcome
